Kenneth Paul Savoy, a devout Catholic, avid traveler, and notorious wisecracker, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest Monday, January 16, 2023 after a courageous 6-year battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of sixty-eight. He leaves behind his beloved wife of forty-five years, Stacey Perrin Savoy; two children, Adam Savoy (Angela) and Aimee Savoy (Kari); two grandchildren, Luke Savoy and Parker Sandefer, who remain his pride and joy; siblings, Deborah Davis (Louis) and Donald Savoy (Audrey). He is also survived by Toni Fiorella (Marc), Godchild Julie Sabio (Kevin Jr.), and Brandon Davis (Alicia); Luke’s mother, Karen Batres, along with host of found family that, while not related by blood, were just as dear to his heart.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan A. Savoy and Theresa Boudreaux Savoy; Godparents, Edward Savoy & Dolores Boudreaux Sauls; Sister, Gail LeBlanc and her husband Richard LeBlanc; sister-in-law, Sylvia Williams; brothers-in-law, Walter Williams Jr. and Ernest “Paul” Perrin; niece, Rhonda Davis; his nephew and Godchild, David Lloyd as well as his mother-in-law, Leona Perrin Alexander.
During his life, Kenneth was an active member of the Catholic Church. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and later volunteered his time as a Youth Ministry Leader for the Catholic Youth Organization at Immaculate Conception Parish, a role that would eventually earn him the Order of St. Louis Award from the Church for his exceptional work. For forty years he was a salesperson at Womack Machine Supply, a career where he not only thrived but was able to forge relationships that lasted long after his retirement. Kenneth was also a Cub Scout leader in the biography section for many years. He will forever be remembered as a doting husband, a loving father, and an adventurous and joyful soul.
The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care given to him over the years by his doctors, nurses, and other staff at the LCMC Cancer Center, University Hospital, Tulane Medical Center, Guardian Home Health and The Family Doctors, without which we would not have had as much time with him in our lives.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 7th Street, Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM immediately followed by the committal service at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
If you would like to make a gift in his memory to help others in their fight against cancer, the family asks that you contribute to St Jude Children’s Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donatetoday.
