

Larry Joseph Bergeron, age 87, of Marrero, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 24, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 29, 1937, to the late Jesse and Mae Bergeron.
Larry was the beloved husband of the late Mildred Jean Bergeron for over 65 wonderful years. He was a devoted father to Alden A. Bergeron (Amelia), Kent P. Bergeron (Donna), Mark J. Bergeron (Suzi), Joed M. Bergeron (Arzel), and Chris J. Bergeron (Roxana); proud grandfather of Jason Bergeron, Alden Anthony Bergeron Jr., Brandie Dessauer, Brandon Bergeron, Valerie Kingcade, Jesse Bergeron, Jayme Bergeron, Kent Bergeron Jr., Lainey Hodge, Celeste Bergeron, Dylan Bergeron, Alex Bergeron, Blake Bergeron, Shayna Bergeron, Emily Bergeron, and Jacob Bergeron; and cherished great-grandfather of 15. He was the loving brother of Doris Robichaux and the late Clyde Bergeron. Larry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In his early years, Larry served honorably in the National Guard. He was a longtime member and past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. 2496 Elks Lodge, where he played a key role in creating the local scholarship program that continues to benefit students today. Larry was also a faithful parishioner of St. Joachim Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Church, Larry served with dedication as an usher for many years.
Affectionately known as the "Mayor of Lisa Drive," Larry was a friend to all and a pillar in his community. He had a deep love for music and baseball, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially during their traditional Sunday BBQs.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and the profound love he had for his family and community.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life gathering on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM at the Gretna Elks Lodge, 900 Monroe St., in Gretna. A memorial visitation for Larry will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 7th St in Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM and interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray.
