

Leo Albert Poussard, age 68, a resident of Westwego, LA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 31, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with heart disease.
He was a devout Catholic and had an immense love for Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego, LA. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Cuban Crisis, and was a welder for over 30 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife of over 49 years Carmen Trahan Poussard, his five loving children Perry Poussard, Sr. (Theresa), Hollie Poussard Fitzhenry (Kevin), Chris Poussard (Vickie), Christie Lynn Poussard (Bobby, Jr.), and Mary Poussard Shallin (Bill). He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren Perry, Jr., Mark (Kimberly), and Danielle Poussard, Hollie Marie, Heather and Ashley Fitzhenry, Rowan and Corinne Poussard, Jude, Jr. and Dustin Foret, Bobby Bailey III, Kaitlin, Abby, Gwen and Brooklyn Shallin, and Gabrielle Taliancich. Brother of Mitzie DeRoche Leonard and Keith DeRoche (Linda). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Leo Poussard, Thelma Hebert DeRoche, and step-father Raymond DeRoche and his beloved grandson Michael Vincent Poussard.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Westwego, LA on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow services in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego, LA.
