Loreto Montagnino

Loreto Montagnino entered into eternal rest on Saturday October 11, 2025 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Joycelyn Taravella Montagnino, married for 60 years, living a very fulfilled life. Son of the late Rosolino Montagnino and the late Salvatrice Mascarella Montagnino. Loving father of Ross Montagnino (Michelle), Gina Montagnino Moore (John), Lori Montagnino White (Rodney), and Jana Montagnino. Loving grandfather of Vincent, John Kenton, Erica (David), Connor, Jon-Austin, Kelsey, Emily, and Evan. Great grandfather of David Baradell IV. Brother of Calogera “Lina” Scaccia (Giuseppe), Maria Taravella (the late Giovanni), Mario Montagnino (Cheryl), the late Loreta “Tina” D’Amico (the late Calogero), and the late Pietro Montagnino (the late Salvatrice). He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Loreto was born in Alia, Sicily, on July 20, 1938. At the age of 20, he immigrated to the United States and made his home in Harvey, Louisiana. Loreto was a skilled welder. He worked at Avondale Shipyard before continuing his career at the Mississippi River Grain Elevator.

Family and friends are invited on Saturday, October 18, 2025 beginning at 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am at Westside Funeral Home 5101 Westbank Expressway Marrero, Louisiana and burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna, Louisiana.
