

Loretta Ledet Sievers passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the age of 79. She was the beloved wife of James J. Sievers for over 57 years. Mother of Matthew Sievers (Renee), Mark Sievers (Jenny), and Julie Gauthreaux (Murphy). Grandmother of Michael Sievers (Sara), Emma Sander, Olivia Sander, Claire Sievers, Stephanie Gauthreaux (Robbie), Anthony Gauthreaux, and Ian Gauthreaux. Great grandmother of Blake Daniels and Zoie Daniels. Daughter of the late Sidney and Zoie Ledet, and sister of Linda Lowery (the late George). Aunt of Kellie Byers (Steve) and great aunt of Sydney Byers. Sister-in-law of Patricia Smith (the late Calvin) and Helen Bourgeois (the late Theophile).
Loretta was born in New Orleans, and was a lifelong resident of the West Bank. She was a retired employee of Jefferson Parish School Board Transportation Department where she drove bus number 330 for over 47 years, loving on generations of children while she made sure they safely got to school. In her later years, she loved bus trips to various casinos with friends. She also enjoyed outings with her family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, including Europe, the Holy Land, and Alaska. Loretta will be missed not only by her family, but also by many of the friends she made along the way.
The family would like to thank Notre Dame Hospice for their excellent care, as well as the many friends and family who helped support them during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM.
