Mary Ellen Schiaffino Baudoin, age 67, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026. Mary was a resident of Westwego, Louisiana. She will be remembered as a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew her.
Mary was married just a few months shy of 50 years to Charles “Smouchie” Anthony Baudoin, Jr. Together they built a family that remained at the center of her life: her children, Charles Anthony Baudoin III and Candase Faith Baudoin Castillo; and the grandchildren she adored, Zane Amore Molina and Luchia Dove Polkey.
She was the daughter of the late Martha Jean Beck Schiaffino and the late Thomas Bernard Schiaffino, Jr., and sister of the late Thomas Bernard Schiaffino III. Mary was the daughter-in-law of Elsie Marie Schouest Baudoin and the late Charles Anthony Baudoin, Sr. She was also sister-in-law to Sheila Linder (Danny), Pam Williams (Dennis), the late Patrick Baudoin, and Jeannie Baudoin. She also had Godchildren, and many nieces and nephews who are left to cherish her memory.
Throughout her working life, Mary served in roles defined by commitment and care for others. She worked at Delta Commodities and the Jefferson Parish Water Board, and also worked as a chiropractic assistant and a Nanny.
In her personal life, Mary found joy in simple pleasures like having chats and watching old movies. She gave her time as a girl scout leader, enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, going to garage sales, gardening, playing solitaire, fishing and being on the boat—pastimes that reflected a life grounded in devotion, warmth, and everyday grace. Mary was selfless and never met a stranger.
A Memorial Service for Mary will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 12:00PM and continue after the service until 3:00PM.
