Matthew Barron Marchand, age 56, of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. Matthew was born to parents Leo Barron Marchand (deceased) and Wilda Curl Marchand on September 7, 1967. He was the loving husband of Louann Marchand for 22 years. He has two beautiful daughters, Grace Katherine and Ava Nicole Marchand. He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters Terri Ayala (Thomas) and Michelle Marchand Malone (Dennis). Loving son-in-law of Bessie Schanno. Beloved brother-in-law of Ryan Schanno (Crystal). Nephew of Mac and Robin Curl and Norma Sumrall. Loving uncle of Amber, Amy, Annalei, Joseph, Gavin and Ethan. He was also the loving father of their furbaby, Alexander. Matthew will be deeply missed by a numerous amount of family and friends who will never forget him.
Matthew loved fishing, cooking and loved eating anything that had a spice to it, especially sushi. He was addicted to watching "Bad Television Shows" like Cops and Dr. Phil. Matthew was a great critic of bad movies and loved analyzing them very negatively. One of his greatest joys was listening to Danny O'Flaherty which convinced him he was Irish. He had a "huge" sense of humor and could make you laugh about just anything. Matthew's heart was huge and he loved helping others.
Matthew's daughters were his greatest joy and he loved spending every waking moment with them. Spending time with his wife and family was his ultimate happiness. He looked forward to embarrassing his daughters with bad "Dad Jokes". His favorite Dad Joke was "What's the loneliest bayou in Louisiana?" Answer-"Bayou-Self". Matthew always spoke about wanting to see the awesome destination his daughters would take and wanted to be there every step of the way.
Matthew worked at Williams/QIS as a Utility Inspector for many years. His job sent him to many destinations around the country. His favorite destination was Pennsylvania and his least favorite was New Jersey. He made many lifelong friends throughout his career. His "adopted" Pennsylvania family meant the world to him especially Eric Mayan who he considered his brother. Matthew had so many friends that he was really close to like Jeff, Stephen, Glenn, Eric, Jason, Mike, Barry, Dale, Hank, Tyler as well as countless others. If you do not see your name in the list of special friends Matt would say "Blame my Wife."
To honor his memory, a visitation for Matthew will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 10:00AM. Words of Remembrance beginning at 1:00PM in the parlor at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072.
