Melissa Ann Bellanger of Lafitte, Louisiana passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026 at the age of 59. She dedicated her life to helping people. She was a life member of Lafitte, Barataria, Crown Pointe Fire Department for 20 plus years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed singing, dancing, the New Orleans Saints, watching wrestling, laughing with friends, her dolphins, but most of all being with all her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Huey P. Long Ancar and Freda Rodi Ancar, and her brother, Ferren Frank Billiot. she is survived by her husband, Ted Bellanger Sr., and 3 children, Ted Bellanger Jr. (Diana), Heather Chauncy (Terry Jr.) and Candie Watson (Ryan). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Levi, Greyson, Wyatt, Shayla, Jensen, Watson, Memphis, Briley, Kinsley, Abby, Baylee, and Vanessa; her siblings Elizabeth Ancar (Larry), Michael Ancar (Jennifer), and Paul Billiot; nieces and nephews Anthony, Alissa (Renee) , Cody, Jonathan, Austin (Mary), Joshua (Jen), Hope (Marco), Jessica (Nick), and Chester III, Brandi (Michael), Bekka (Tony), Christopher, and Margot.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, with Pastor Jeffrey Smith officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale, Louisiana. Repass will be held at Barataria Baptist Church, 2596 Jean Lafitte Blvd, Lafitte.
