Melvin Joseph Deshotel Jr., of Violet, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24th, 2022 surrounded by his family at the age of 69. Melvin was born December 14th, 1952 to the late Melvin "Marvin" J. Deshotel Sr. and Ola Marie Bordelon Deshotel. Loving husband of Carol Larson Deshotel for 46 years. Devoted father of Robert "Bobby" Gilchrist (Lori) and Timothy "Tim" Deshotel (Melissa). Proud Paw Paw of Madilyn Deshotel, Ethan Gilchrist, Colby Gilchrist, and Jules Henry. Brother of Deborah Dardar (Walter), Juanita Wells, Robin Acosta (Boyd), Mark Deselles, and David Deselles (Bridgette). Brother-in-Law of Jerry Larson (Sue) and Sue Terry (Buck). He is survived by his aunt Dorothy "Dot" Baas. Melvin is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
