Merrill Joseph Martinez

Merrill was born in Marrero, LA . He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Lenora Hebert Martinez; son Duane Martinez (Patti); daughters Denise Cavanaugh (David) and Dodie Courville (Rufus); sister Sharon Matherne (the late Harris); sister-in-law Susan Martinez (the late Darryll); grandchildren Jessica (Jay), Joshua (Sandi), Julia (Joey), and Nadia (Gavin); great grandchildren Landon, Logan, Madison, Isabella, Emma, Ryleigh, Laila, Joseph, and Eric. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Alden Sr and Goldie Martinez; sister Shelia Conrad; brothers Darryl Martinez and Alden Martinez Jr.

He retired after 30 years with Gulf/Chevron Corporation. He was a proud Army veteran. He loved spending time with family and sports, as well as watching Westerns.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 7th St, Marrero, LA 70072 on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at church. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale. The family requests Masses in lieu of flowers. Services entrusted to Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home.
