Michael graduated from George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans and went on to earn an Associate of Science degree in Motor Vehicle Technology from Delgado Community College. He dedicated his life to service—both to his country and his community. Michael proudly served in the United States Army from September 1974 until his honorable discharge in August 1979, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Born on October 18, 1954, Michael was the beloved son of the late Lillie and Willie C. Ardis, Sr. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia Guyton Ardis, and his loving daughters Nedra Ardis and Sidra Ardis-Moore (Justin). He also leaves to cherish his memory his adored grandchildren Senedra Wollfarth (Jake), Sierra and Se’kira Ardis, Justin and Saniyah Moore, and Samad Washington, along with two great-grandchildren, Jake and Judah Wollfarth.
Michael is lovingly remembered by his siblings Marian Ardis Clarke, Willie C. Ardis, Jr. (Carolyn), and L. Fay Ardis Arbuthnot (Donald). He was preceded in death by his siblings Gail Ardis Shorty, Larry Ardis, and Glynis Ardis Jones.
He is also remembered by his brothers-in-law Malik Rahim and Tyrone L. Guyton, and was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Lubertha Johnson and Eugene Guyton.
Michael leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as a loving circle of extended family and dear friends.
Michael will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the Mass. A committal service will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094.
