Michael Edward Ogden Sr., known as “Mike”, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the age of 76 with his family by his side. He was born in New Orleans, LA to Joseph James Ogden and Louise T. Ogden on November 16, 1941. He was raised in Thibodaux, LA where he met the love of his life, Sharon Hebert Ogden. They have been married for the past 54 years, and together raised their four children in Marrero, LA. Mike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Avondale Shipyards where he worked for 34 years.
Mike was a very caring man who loved and adored his wife and family. He was full of love , had the biggest heart, and to know him was to love him! He enjoyed being with his family and his friends but was most happy in his recliner watching old westerns. He would often say “my tv, my remote, and my baby is all I need”. Mike had a great sense of humor and a way of making everyone feel like family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hebert Ogden; children, Michael Ogden Jr. (Connie), Lisa Macaluso, Kelly Landry (Larry), and Brandi Hernandez (Brian); eight grandchildren, Lauren, Tiffany, Taylor, Dara, Eryn, Ava, Scottie, and Misty; eight great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Hunter, Jaxson, Harper, Emry, Phoenix, Peyton, and Kendel; his sister, Vera O Billet; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise T. Ogden; his father, Joseph James Ogden; his sister, Kathleen O Boudreaux; and his brother, Joseph “Jimmy” Ogden.
The family would like to thank the CCU staff of West Jefferson Hospital, Ochsner of Kenner LTAC, North Oaks Hospital, Ochsner Northshore, and Trinity Neurologic Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion shown throughout his illness.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Memorial Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM.
