Mildred Judith Brown

Mildred Judith Brown passed away on August 12, 2021 at the age of 99. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Velma Fredrick. Wife of the late Stacy F. Brown, Sr. Mother of Stacy F. Brown, Jr. Cousin of Joe Lorio, Jr., Margaret Lorio Preston, Patty Lorio, Brenda de Battista (Nick), Liz Brown, Patrick Lorio, Brad Preston, Jefferry Preston and Karen Derbes. She was especially close to her cousin Joycelin Lorio, who was more like a sister, cousin-in-law, Joe Lorio, Sr. and devoted family member Mary Ruth Christiana.

Mildred was born on November 4, 1921 in Gretna, Louisiana where she was a resident for most of her life. She lived, for a time, in Irish Bayou where she loved to fish and enjoyed life on the bayou. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, she lived in Mary Joseph Apartments in Algiers and then moved to St. Joseph Apartments where she made many close friends. Mildred worked in retail management for Grant's in Harvey and retired from FW Woolworth, on Canal St.

She volunteered in the cafeteria at St. Anthony School in Gretna. She loved to cook, watch cooking shows, make mandarin cakes, watch her beloved Saints play football, sew and travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama with family. Mildred was a people person and, most of all, she loved being surrounded by family and friends.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at ANVOI Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care. A special thanks to Delia Tufaro, for her kindness and dedication. Also, we are thankful to her personal caregivers, Joanna Reboul, Liz Brown, Kate Helmstetter, and Rami Gauthreaux, who's assistance was priceless.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
