Milton A. Courteaux Sr. passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 90. He was the beloved husband of Bertha Carroll Courteaux for almost 69 years. Father of Carol Breeden (Joe), Milton Courteaux Jr., Kathy Courteaux, Laura Howard (Floyd), and Michael Courteaux. Preceded in death by his parents, Emile Joseph Courteaux and Ezelia Billiot Courteaux; a grandson , Jeremy Kaleb Courteaux; one granddaughter Denise Richlyski; and a great grandson, Patrick Joseph West Jr. He is also predeceased by three brothers, Elmore, Norman "Speedy", and Andrew. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, as well as many “adopted” grandchildren and great grandchildren who all lovingly referred to him as “Grandpa.” He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was the head usher and senior deacon of First Baptist Church of Harahan, where he will be greatly missed. He mentored two of his grandsons as they came to serve as deacons along side him. He was funny, loved to laugh and to make others laugh, played music when he was younger, and was known in his later years for his vegetable garden. He enjoyed country western music, and western movies. He was a quiet, reserved, hard working man, who lived his faith in Jesus Christ in such a way that it was contagious.
A Funeral Service will be held at his church, First Baptist Church of Harahan, 276 Oak Ave., on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Express condolences at westsideleitzeagan.com.
