Murphy Anthony Biondillo was called to his eternal rest on September 1, 2021. He is survived by his children, Leslie Biondillo Gregg and Loni Biondillo Chaisson (Cory) and his grandchildren, Gabriella, Allison, Alyssa, Carlie, Kallie, Jackson, and Cory Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Biondillo Jeandron (Joel), nieces, Amanda and family and Melissa (Kenny) and family. He will be joined with his parents once again, the late Murphy and Dolores Miller Biondillo.
Murphy was born on September 19, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has always been heavily involved with St. Rosalie Church as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, parish council, CCD teacher and Sacristan. He was involved in various other organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was honored to serve as a Eucharistic Minister for Pope John Paul II during his visit to New Orleans in 1987. He was also recently awarded the St. Louis IX Medallion for his devoted service to the church.
Murphy was in the steel business for over 45 years. His business was always very exciting to him and took him as far as Belgium to procure steel. He opened D&M Steel in 1988, where he had been working with his daughters by his side for many years. He loved his family and loved his work and never wanted to retire. He will be deeply missed.
Family, friends, employees and customers/vendors of D&M Steel are invited to attend visitation on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home located at 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 beginning at 11:00 am at St. Rosalie Catholic Church 600 2nd Avenue, Harvey. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
