Newton Joseph "Pappy" Robert Sr.

Newton J. “Pappy” Robert, Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Ama, was called to his heavenly home after a long battle with Leukemia. He was a World War II veteran and a retired employee of Cyanamid. He was a jokester until the end. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Dolena Matherne Robert. Father of Carmen Cellos (Al), Dale Williams (Rick), Melanie Callender (Mike), Tammy Cantrelle (Carl), Newton Jr. (Celeste), and Rocky. Brother of Rena Gassen, and the late John, Murphy, Stuart, Mary Robert, Rita Bromley, and Stella Petit. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, and all of his favorite nieces. The family would like to express their utmost thanks to Dr. Tamma and Milene, nurses Terri, Melissa, and Pam at the infusion center of Ochsner Kenner, and all doctors and nurses that helped us and our father in our time of need. Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from St. Mark Catholic Church, 10773 River Road, Ama, on Saturday Morning, March 23, 2013 at 11:00. Visitation will be held on Friday Evening from 6:00 until 9:00 at church, and resuming Saturday Morning from 9:00 until the service. Interment to follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
