Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Pat’s life at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Marrero on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with interment at Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale.
Pat was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 26, 1939, and was raised in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated as valedictorian from Leeds High School in 1957 - a reflection of the intelligence, resolve, and strong mid-Western character that would remain with her throughout her life.
Pat made her home in Avondale where she lived for many years. Her faith was a central part of her life. For 58 years, she was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Avondale, where her church family became an important part of her life and legacy.
Pat spent much of her professional life working in insurance claims. She worked for Zurich American Insurance for many years before the company relocated out of state. She later worked at Martin Insurance Agency and ultimately retired from Eustis Insurance.
Pat is survived by her children, Kenneth, Darla, Steve (Gretchen), and Vicki (Paul). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Deborah Ann, Ghueno, Luther (Jocelyn), Michael, Jordan, Allison (Jake), Matthew, Robby, and Tiffany (Richard), along with a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Mary Moyse, her husband, Horace Sims; her daughter, Deborah Tatum; her son-in-law, Conaway Saux; and her great-grandson, Adam Roberts.
She was a strong woman who knew what she loved and lived her life with faith and determination. Her life was long, full, and deeply woven into the lives of those around her. Though she will be greatly missed, we can take comfort in knowing that Pat is now at peace.
We celebrate her life, we honor her memory, and we give thanks for the years we were blessed to have her with us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Avondale, 360 S. Jamie Blvd., Avondale, Louisiana 70094.
