Phyllis Plaisance

Phyllis Melford Plaisance entered peacefully into heaven at the age of 66 on Friday, March 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Rosemary and Dorville Melford Sr. Sister of Dorville Melford Jr, Rosemary Schreefel, Patricia Buttery, and the late Dardanella Clark. Wife of the late Ronald Plaisance. Stepmother to Becky Green and Monica Plaisance. Grandmother of Dustin, Jean Paul, and Anastasia Plaisance. Sister-in-law to Christine Melford, Robin Buttery Sr, Ramona Jaianivich, Dale, Dwayne, Junius, and Sandra Plaisance. Loving Aunt to Wesley Melford, Kimberlynn Prejeant, Mark Clark, Chanse and Chandler Schreefel, Robin Buttery Jr, Hope Mercier, the late Nathan Roubion, the late Connie and Byron Parker, and the late Erica Navero. Great Aunt to Cortney and Collene Prejeant, Carolyn Mercier, Harmony and Newton Schreefel, Byron Parker II, and Joseph Navero. Great-great Aunt to Harper Landry, Abela, Bailey, Jace, and Rylee Naquin.

Though Phyllis did not have any children of her own, she treated all of the children in the family as if they were her children. Phyllis spent most of her life taking care of several generations of nieces and nephews as the official family babysitter. Words do not exist to accurately describe how much love and compassion Phyllis showed to everyone, especially all of her “children.” Phyllis was the most selfless and giving person any of us have ever met, willing to do anything for anyone in need. She always put others before herself. There is no doubt she will be greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, March 23, 2020, at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, located at 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by interment in Restlawn Park Cemetery, located at 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094.
