Ramona Gail Danos Delaune

Ramona Gail Danos Delaune on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, age 70 years, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and lifetime resident of Jefferson Parish, having spent several of her later years in Lafourche Parish, passed away.

Daughter of the late Jean Durante Lafont and Edmond Gilbert Danos, wife of 53 years to Walter Michael Delaune, beloved and devoted mother of Blaine, Brian, Bradford and Brandon Delaune, Bernadette Gural (Kyle), Belinda Oakland (Bill), and Beth Delaune (Mickey). Sister of Dolores Alagdon, Yvonne Arabie, Jeffred Danos, Harry Danos, the late Ruth Ribaul, Geraldine Verret, Josephine Danos, Mildred Orgeron, Edmond J. Danos, and Raymond Danos (her twin).

Ramona is survived by fifteen grandchildren: Misty, Brooke, Brent, April, Brandi, John, Justin, Jacob, Jared, Oliver, Ethan, William III, Leelond, Patrick and Alex, and five great-grandchildren: Camryn, Kyle, Braden, Asiyah, and Frank, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ramona managed and co-owned with her husband their family business, Delaune’s Delightful Doughnuts, from which she was retired. She returned to school mid-life, graduating with honors from West Jefferson Vocational & Technical School, earning a certificate in business and accounting. She was a parishioner of Marrero Assembly of God and Harvest Time Fellowship. Ramona was an avid reader, hailed by many to be an exceptional cook, a great seamstress and, naturally, a devoted Saints fan. Ramona had a presence about her that made everyone feel welcome and she extended her family to include everyone she knew and loved. She had a laugh that was contagious and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001, Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Chapel service begins at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Donna Burgo of Harvest Time Fellowship will officiate. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana 70056.
