Born March 19, 1952 in New Orleans, LA, Randy had 69 years of life to always have a punchline waiting in his back pocket, along with a box cutter, permanent marker, guitar pick, and anything else he deemed as a necessary tool to have on hand. Randy was a lifelong resident of the Westbank of New Orleans. He grew up in Marrero, was a long-time resident of Waggaman, and spent his last few years of life in Hahnville with his wife of 45 years, Nylie “Susie” Boudreaux. His two devoted children, Lil’ Randy and Fay, along with his three loving grandchildren, Chris, Cain, and Layla, now have the not-so-small feat of carrying on his incredible legacy.
Known as “Boo” at his job, Randy was employed at Carpenter & Paterson, Inc. for the past 24 years, a career in which he said he “gave it his all.” Aside from his job, Randy certainly gave it his all in his community. “Handy Randy” could build or fix anything for you with no budget. “Take nothing and do something with it,” as he would say. And if he ran into a roadblock, he would simply respond, “God will make a way.” Some knew him as the neighborhood Easter Bunny, others knew him as the man that repaired your bicycle, or he was the man who cut your grass or washed your vehicle just because he felt like it. Rest assured, if you were good to him, he was good back to you tenfold. This was most certainly the case regarding his love for the First Baptist Church of Waggaman and its congregation.
Randy may have found delight with his family and church, but his passion was music. It could be argued that he sang and played guitar better than any of the artists he covered. Any time with Randy came equipped with a joke or a song, and if you had enough time in the day, he was bound to indulge in telling you a story and turning it all into a learning opportunity. Indeed, he enjoyed planting seeds of knowledge, but his knack for gardening was astounding.
He is preceded in death by his parents Reno and Irene Boudreaux, siblings Chris Boudreaux and Sybil Boudreaux Pennino, his mother and father-in-law Mattie and Tisdale Snow, Sr., and many other beloved family members and friends who have since passed on. He is survived by siblings Sandra Falgoust-Cruthirds, Deborah Bergeron (Desmond), Ricky Boudreaux (Patti), Paris Boudreaux, Sr. (Barbara), and Farrell Boudreaux, Sr. (Rhonda), along with countless friends and family who will deeply miss his colorful, energetic presence.
