Raymond George Lamy Sr.

Raymond George Lamy, Sr. passed away surrounded by his family on April 30, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born in New Orleans on May 10, 1932, and was a long-time resident of the New Orleans Westbank.

Raymond was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in 1950 where he was the class salutatorian. As a star football player, he was named to the 1949 New Orleans Quarterback Club. Upon graduation, Raymond earned an academic and baseball scholarship to Loyola University where he graduated in 1954 with a degree in accounting.

After graduating from Loyola, Raymond was appointed as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he admirably served our country in Fort Knox, KY.

Raymond had a successful career in the insurance industry. He was extremely dedicated to his family and community where he was a Scout Leader, baseball coach, volunteer fireman, school PTA officer, and HOA board member. He was an avid golfer scoring several holes in one at Brechtel Park Golf Course. Most importantly, Raymond spent his life as a devout Catholic serving Our Lord as a lector, usher, alter server, Knights of Columbus member, and Eucharistic Minister. He was extremely devoted to his St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference in Immaculate Conception Parish.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents John Earl and Camille Sperandeo Lamy; brothers John and Harold Lamy; beloved wife Marcia Ann; and sons Dennis Michael and Daniel Patrick.

He is survived by his sons Raymond, Jr. (Jann), Timothy (Kathleen), and daughter Leslie Champagne (Michael, Sr.); grandchildren Ryan, Rhett, Reid (Lacey), Toby (Julie), L. Nick, Kyle (Abby), Deven-Paul, Trevor (Connie), and Michael Champagne, Jr. (Christine) as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation at Immaculate Conception Church, 4401 Seventh Street, Marrero, LA. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM. Private interment at a later date.
