

Raymond Acriado "Ma'lae" Reyes Sr. passed away on Monday, April, 26, 2021 at the age of 76. He was the beloved husband of Betty Reyes for over 55 years. Father of Raymond "Tony" Reyes Jr. (Cindy) Grandfather of Ashleigh Arita (Henry) and Raymond "Trey" Reyes III. Great grandfather of Olivia and Isaiah Arita. Son of the late Rachael Anna Mae Phillips and Fred Phillips. Brother of Dwight David Reyes (the late Reesa), Roland Phillips (Marsha), Alice Eastman (Roger), Sheila Machado (Reed), Connie Bernich (the late John), John Phillips (the late Barbara), Donnie "Pedro" Phillips, and Myrtle Jane Phillips (the late Norris), as well as the late Ronald "Killer" Phillips and Mona Bergeron (Dickie). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was a fisherman and tug boat captain for most of his life. He worked at Freeport-McMoRan, and was a commercial fisherman. His family absolutely came first. He was never wrong, at least that he admitted. He will be remembered for his generosity, as he would give the shirt off his back to help someone.
A Funeral Service will be held at Light Tabernacle Church on Grand Bayou on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Friday, April 30 at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, from 6:00 PM, and continue at church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
