Richard Samuel Mentzer was born on June 28, 1925 in Dowagiac, Michigan and he passed away on September 20, 2010 at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of the late Pearl Pierce Mentzer for 51 years and he was the son of the late Raymond G. Mentzer and Elva Myers Bowers. He was the brother of Raymond Guy Mentzer, Larry Lee Mentzer and step-brother of Bruce Bowers. He was the step-father of Judy Ann Exsterstein and Jean Mary Perret and the father of Vicki Lynn Kirchhoff. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Timothy Dixon, Sr., Shannon Perret, Albert and Jonathan Rouse as well as his 3 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services from WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at which time a short prayer service will be held. Burial will then follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
