Robert Sterlin Matherne Sr. of Avondale, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born in Des Allemands, Louisiana to the late Hubert Matherne and Martha Cammardele Matherne. He was married to Cordelia "Corky" Matherne for 21 years. Robert was also married to the mother of his children, the late Brenda Matherne, before her passing in 2001. Loving father of Tirzah M. Becnel (James), Tiara Matherne, and Robert Matherne, Jr. (Valerie). Grandfather of James "Tee J" Becnel, Jr. (Gwen), Jessica Gandolfi (Anthony), Jennifer Uzee (Joe), Lawrence Becnel, Meagan Watkins, Gary Matherne, Jeanne' Thornton (Jacob), and Violet Matherne. Robert is the great grandfather of 11 great grandchildren and the brother of 6 siblings. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Graveside service will be held at 9:30AM on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale, Louisiana.
