Robert Francis Songy

Robert Francis Songy entered eternal life on the 12th day of February 2025 at the age of 75 after a brief illness. Mr. Songy was a New Orleans native and a longtime resident of Gretna. Throughout his life, he proved himself to be a leader and a man on which one could depend. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Mary Phelan Mack Songy, his parents, Wallace Songy Jr. and Charlotte Kane Bachemin Songy, and his brother Raymond Bachemin Jr. He is survived by his and Mrs. Songy’s only child, Marielle Louise Songy, who loved him beyond measure and whose life is irrevocably changed by his absence. Mr. Songy was a devoted son, husband, father, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the service time. Robert will be laid to rest following the Mass at Lakelawn Park Cemetery.
