Roman Figueroa Jr.

Roman Figueroa, Jr. of Terrytown, departed this life Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 58 in his home surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle with heart disease. Roman was born Thursday, October 28, 1965, in New Orleans, Louisiana and was the beloved son of Rosaida Bermudez Figueroa and the late Roman Figueroa, Sr.

Private First Class (PFC) Roman Figueroa, Jr. served with distinction with the U.S. Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as a Tactical Telecommunications Center Operator and was awarded Military Decorations including the Army Service Ribbon, M16 Expert Rifleman, and the Army Service Lapel Button.

After his service in the Army, he became involved in the construction and remodeling business. He eventually started his own fencing business building and replacing fences for homeowners.

Roman also enjoyed several hobbies including boating, fishing, and riding his four wheelers. He loved animals and would often take in dogs that were abused or abandoned.

Roman is survived by and will be missed by his mother, Rosaida Bermudez Figueroa, his daughter Jada R. Figueroa, his stepdaughters Kayla Simmons-Figueroa and Lexus R. Wilkerson-Figueroa, his sisters Rosa A. Figueroa-Gonzalez, Maria N. Figueroa, and Tammy M. Figueroa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews namely David J. Figueroa, Sr., Alex M. Varela, Caroline E. Gonzalez, and two great- nephews David J. Figueroa, Jr., and Emmanuel X. Figueroa.

Roman is predeceased by his late paternal grandparents Justo and Justina Morales - Figueroa and maternal grandparents Rafael and Tomasa Ortiz-Bermudez.

He was cherished and adored by his aunts and uncle, Rafael O. Bermudez (wife Raleigh), Marinella Alvarenga (husband Marco), and the late Luz “Lucy” Gradiz (husband Jose Augusto), and the late Carmen Cardova.

A private reception for friends and family will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 1:00 - 4:00 at 524 Terry Parkway, Terrytown, LA 70056,

Roman Figueroa, Jr. was a charismatic man who was loved and cherished by his friends and family. He will be missed!
