

PawPaw a life-long resident of Marrero, Louisiana was born June 7th, 1938 in Harvey, Louisiana to the late George and Olivia Guthrie.
Devoted Father of his only son David B. Guthrie (LesLey). Proud PawPaw of Rachelle, Ryan (Gina), Erika, Zack, Kearstin, Daniel, and Preston. Great PawPaw of D.J., Maben, Tage, Andre, Felix, Ruby, Ruslan, Kynzie, River, IsaBella, and the late Silas.
PawPaw also leaves behind his Pride, Joy, Best Friend, and Great-Grandson, Xander.
Ronald leaves behind his long-time companion, Linda. He is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who are left to cherish his memory.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, George "Babe" Walter Guthrie Sr. and Olivia Anna Toups Guthrie, his brothers, George "T-George" Guthrie Jr., Alva Guthrie, Sheldon Guthrie Sr., Joseph "Smokie" Guthrie, and Rafle Guthrie Sr.
PawPaw proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer. After his retirement from Wall Shipyard-National Marine Services- NICOR National-Elmwood Dry Dock with over 43 years of service in the same shipyard, he was able to spend quality time with his beloved family. He enjoyed carpentry and building special projects around his home, and for others. He devoted time to his Great-Grandson Xander, and accompanied him to all of his sporting events at PARD Playground.
PawPaw was a devout Catholic and a dedicated parishioner of Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church in Marrero, Louisiana. He was the neighborhood "PawPaw" who was loved by all of his neighbors and never met a stranger.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, June 18th, 2022 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 10:00AM and continue until the Mass time. Interment will follow the Mass at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana.
