Rosa Elena Aguilar Filos Aguilar

Rosa Elena Filos, age 57, was called home by our Heavenly Father Saturday morning September 13, 2014, at her home in Marrero, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Juan “Tony” Filos, selfless mother of Marco Antonio Filos, Veronica Elena Filos, Monica Addeli Filos, stepdaughter Kimberly Dawn Filos-Smith, son-in-law Blake Saltaformaggio, and adoring grandmother to 4 month old Dylan Saltaformaggio. She is survived by her parents Felipe Lorenzo Aguilar and Maria Dolores Herrera Aguilar and her six siblings Eugenia Rubi Castillo, Jose Lorenzo Aguilar, Ligia Maria Garcia, Enrique Jesus Aguilar, Maria Isabel Tamayo, and Manuel Antonio Aguilar. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and dear friends. Rosa was born in Yucatan, Mexico and made Marrero, LA her home 30 years ago. Rosa attained a Doctor in Dental Surgery degree from Universidad de Yucatan and practiced as a dentist in Mexico prior to her move to the U.S. After raising her small children, she returned to dentistry as a dental/orthodontic assistant for the past 22 years. Rosa was an extraordinary cook and loved to make people laugh. She had hobbies of baking, knitting, crocheting, and staying updated with celebrity gossip. Rosa touched many lives and will be immensely missed by all who knew her. Memorial services will be held at VISITATION OF OUR LADY PARISH CATHOLIC CHURCH on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 1PM.
