Russell Edward Trahan Sr.

Russell Edward Trahan, Sr., a devout Catholic, native of Bayou Black, and a resident of Westwego, LA, entered into eternal peace and rest with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2:23 a.m., at Canon Hospice. Age 92 years, born October 8, 1919. Russell was the beloved husband of the late Dora Mae Bergeron Trahan for over 67 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Marshall Trahan, Sr. and Adelaide Bergeron Trahan. He was the adored father of Carmen Trahan Poussard (Leo, deceased), Russell Trahan, Jr. (Lynette), Michael Trahan, Sr. (Iris), and the late Wanda Ann Trahan; the devoted grandfather of Perry Poussard, Sr., (Theresa), Hollie Poussard Fitzhenry (Kevin), Chris Poussard (Vickie), Christie Lynn Poussard, Mary Poussard Shallin, Huey Dufrene, Jr. (Penny), Hunley Dufrene, Sr. (Phyllis), Hale Dufrene, Yvette Trahan Yarbrough (Chase), Russell Trahan, III, Michael Trahan, Jr. and the late Dawn Ann Dufrene. He was also the loving great-grandfather of Rowan, Corinne, Perry, Jr., Mark (Kim), Danielle and the late Michael Poussard; Hollie Marie, Heather and Ashely Fitzhenry; Jude, Jr., and Dustin Foret; Bobby Bailey, III; Kaitlin, Abigail, Gwendolyn and Brooklyn Shallin; Gabrielle Taliancich; Kyle, Cherie, Dawn, Jenna, Hunley, Jr., and Hayley Dufrene; Courtney Dufrene Thompson (James, Sr.), Daniel Morris, Sr., (Toni) and Stacey Morris Breaux (Joshua); Alexis Hebert (Jacob Barois); and Connor Yarbrough. Great-great grandfather of James, Jr. and Caden Thompson; Beckham and Everett Breaux; Zachary Barois; and Daniel Morris, Jr. Brother of the late Marshall Trahan, Jr., Curtis Trahan, Guideon Trahan, Fulton Trahan, Suzel Guidry, Adine Champagne, Gladys Breaux, Adelaide Champagne, Beatrice Oliver and Hazel Crochet. He was blessed with an extended family from the Wynhoven Council 3091 Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Canon Hospice and caregiver Teddy Nelson.

Relatives and friends of the family, also members of the Knights of Columbus Council 3091 are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow services in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until funeral time at WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA.
