

Ruth Rosalie Bergeron passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023. She was born in Marrero, Louisiana on February 14, 1931 to the late Charles Barras, Sr. and Agnes Guidry Barras. Devoted wife of the late Peter Francis Bergeron. Loving mother of Gina Berthelot (Kevin) and the late Valerie Trosclair (Ronald) and Darren Bergeron. Proud Grandmother of Michelle Trosclair Scott (Rev. Steven), Amber Boudreaux (Kirk), Lori Gallino (Brian) and Cody Peter Berthelot (Michelle) and great-grandmother of Peyton Scott, Sophie and Andrew Boudreaux. Sister of Robert Barras, Betty Adams, Fay Brown, Barbara Busch and the late Ruby Hebert and Charles Barras, Jr. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, god-children and friends.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Marrero. She was a member of American Legion Hall Post 222, the Red Hat Society and she was the Queen Flying Leaf of the Ya-Ya’s. Ruth loved to go bowling and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Ruth worked as a telephone operator in her early years. After raising her family, she worked at Capdeboscq Catering Service. Ruth was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, January 12, 2023 beginning at 9:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM immediately followed by the burial at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
