

Sally Ann Gros Vedros passed away at River Regions Hospice House surrounded by her family on Friday, June 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma. She was 70. Sally was born in Thibodeaux on January 15, 1941 and lived on the Westbank for more than 55 years. She is survived by three loving children, Gerald Vedros(wife Denise), Lori Vedros Kravet (husband Michael), and Valerie Vedros White (husband Jerry); 6 adoring grandchildren: Marc and Scott Vedros, Patrick and Avery Kravet, Tiffany and Hailey White; brothers Donald Gros (late wife Mary), Alton Gros, Jr. (wife Geraldine), sister Jenice Gros Champagne (husband Brian) and sister-in-law Katherine Vedros Bourgeois (husband Randall); Aunt Bridgette(Lizzie) Gros; and special friend Leo Falk. Sally had a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilton J. Vedros, parents Alton E. Sr. and Marie (Anna) Gros, in laws Willma and Doralise Vedros, Aunt Malvina Gros; and grandson Zachary Kravet. Sally Vedros retired after 27 years of dedicated service to the Jefferson Parish School System. She was also an employee of Avondale Shipyard. Sally was loved by many for her outgoing personality, kindness, compassion and generous nature. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Sally was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Gretna, St. Cletus and Infant Jesus Church. Sally wanted to thank all of her family and close friends that have laughed, cried and taken care of her during her precious life; she loved every one of you.
The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, and staff of West Jefferson Medical Center, Total Home Health, Heart of Hospice and River Regions Hospice House for their compassion and understanding during her final days.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at WESTSIDE LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 8:00 AM until 11:30 AM at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home.
