

He is survived by his loving spouse, Karen G. LaChute; Children: Steven ‘Steve’ LaChute (Adrianne), Scott LaChute (Shaun), and Yvette LaChute; Grandchildren, Caitlyn LaChute and Courtney LaChute; Siblings: Rosalie ‘Rose’ Pfister (Howard), Helen Lansden, Loretta Daniel, Eve Armand (Joe), Janice Ashley (Calvin), Wanda Hurley (Dennis), Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Palmer, and Kevin LaChute (Kim).
He was preceded in death by: his father, Samuel LaChute, Sr.; his mother, Angelina ‘Melda’ LaChute; his younger brother, Curtis Ricky LaChute; brothers-in-laws, John H. Daniel and H. Baylor Lansden; nephew, Timothy Daniel; niece, Kimberly Ashley Wilkinson; and former spouse, Judith G. Kinler.
Sam graduated from Martin Behrman High School in Algiers, LA in 1958 and attended Tulane University. He then went to work for H.C. Price Company which brought him to Brazil and Iran. He also worked for Aluminum Specialty before starting his own business, Industrial Fabrication and Repair Service prior to his retirement in 2001. Sam was a longtime resident of Harvey, LA.
Sam was a devoted family man who loved his spouse, children and their spouses, and granddaughters dearly. One of his favorite past times was morning donuts and coffee with his brother. He was a simple person with a love for oldie classic songs, particularly country music. Sam was an avid lover of classic cars and was particularly fond of his El Camino. He enjoyed Cruising on the Coast each year. He loved football with his favorite sports team being the New Orleans Saints. He was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge #30. Sam spent time volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul and helping the less fortunate.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.
