Sandra Ann Barrette

Sandra Bella Barrette was delivered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the age of 76. She was the beloved mother of Tammy Martin Trevino, Joseph Martin (Jamie), Jason Barrette (Jeanne) and the late Marty Matthew Martin, Sr. Proud grandmother of Joshua Trevino, Rachel Trevino, Caleb Trevino, Marty Martin, Jr., Christopher Martin, Jessie Martin, Elizabeth Martin Bradley, Ruth Martin Hughes, Sandra Martin Turner, Heidi Martin and Noah Barrette as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Charles Peter and Margaret Lucille Bella. Sister to the late Charles David Bella and Carol Bella Campbell. Beloved Aunt and Nanny to Katie Campbell. Sandra is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her dearest, loving friends Claudia Prestonbach and Edith Haydel.

Sandra was born in Jacksonville, Florida but her father was from Berwick, Louisiana. She was a longtime resident of Marrero and Westwego, Louisiana, where she built a life centered around her family, faith, and her love for people. She loved dogs and rescued cats. She especially loved her fur-baby Rosie the Rosebud, a tri-color Shih-Tzu she had for 15 years. She retired as a scanning manager at Rouses Supermarket, where she was known not only for her dedication to her work but also for the genuine care, she showed toward those around her. She was a marketplace evangelist. While at work and in everyday encounters, she would share her faith with people whenever she felt the Lord put someone on her heart. She believed that wherever God placed her, there was an opportunity to be a witness.

Sandra was a longtime and faithful member of Lion of Judah Church. She was especially proud of her 17-day, short-term missionary work in China, where she courageously supported the underground church by bringing Bibles to believers who desperately needed them. She had a genuine heart for people and a desire to see others know the hope and love she had found in Christ. She believed and stood on the scripture John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” She also had a blessed hope in the scriptures, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord,” 2 Corinthian 5:8 and “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we shall always be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17.

Sandra was the Matriarch of her family, who will dearly miss her. She left an indelible mark on each of their lives---leaving behind a legacy of faith, courage, compassion, and love.

A memorial service for Sandra will be held at a later date.
