KIRKSEY Sylvia Ann Landry Kirksey received her wings on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, after her remarkable fight against breast cancer. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 36 years, Carl Kirksey. A loving mother of Candice Kirksey Kibodeaux (Josh) and Tiffany Kirksey Tanciar (Stephen). A proud grandmother of Keely, Aaron, Alex, Porsha, Cierra, Brianna and Alaina. Beloved daughter of Betty Griffin Landry and the late Murphy J. Landry, Sr. Sister of Murphy J. Landry Jr. (Anna), Sharon A. Landry (James “Fish”) and JoAnn M. Landry Matherne. Preceded in death by her grandmother and grandfather, Louise S. Griffin and Elson F. Griffin. Godmother of Nicole, Cory and Sarah. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Age 56, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Westwego and Mt. Hermon, Louisiana for the past 10 years. Sylvia was an inspiration to everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She never let her faith or will to fight waiver. She worked for Witco/Galata Chemical Company for many years. She enjoyed cooking, her faith in God and mostly spending time with family and friends. She loved life. She now rests peacefully in the arms of our Lord and Savior. She will always watch over, protect and guide her loved ones. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy., Marrero, La on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1pm. Visitation beginning at 9am. Interment will be at a later date.

I worked with Sylvia for many years. She was devoted to her job and the employees. I remember her vast knowledge, but mostly her smile for everyone who walked into her office. My deep sympathy to her husband and family.

MY FAMILY AND I ARE DEEPLY SADDENED TO LEARN OF SYLVIA'S PASSING. SHE HAD A LONG, STRONG FIGHT AND HAD A POSITIVE OUTLOOK ON LIFE, HER UNENDING DETERMINATION TOUCHED EVERYONE WHO WAS BLESSED TO KNOW HER. MAY THE LIGHT OF GOD'S ETERNAL LOVE SHINE BRIGHTLY UPON HER. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND HER WAKE AS I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN, BUT EXTEND MY HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES AND WILL KEEP YOU ALL IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS DURING THIS VERY DIFFICULT TIME.
