Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Borne

Thomas Joseph “Tommy” Borne passed away from complications from Mesothelioma at the age of 68. He was the beloved husband of Peggy Leonard Borne for over 30 years. He was the loving father of Mary-Lynn Borne, stepfather of Angela Vidrine. He was also the grandfather, God-father, and surrogate father of Krysta Vidrine (Blake), as well as grandfather of Tristan Smith and Vivienne Decoux. Great grandfather of Gabrielle, Lucas, and Audrey Monk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ester Scarbro and Lawrence Borne, his grandparents Lena Boudreaux and Lufras Boudreaux, and his Godfather, Gerald Boudreaux. He also loved his canine companions, Nina as well as the late Gigi and Tiggles. Mr. Borne was a dedicated employee of the Jefferson Parish School Board for over 19 years as their “pony man”, as well the Plimsoll Club, Capdebosque Catering for over 20 years, and Avondale Shipyard. He was a 1970 graduate of West Jefferson High School.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM, with Fr. Bernie Terrebonne officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Park Cemetery in Gretna. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society.
