Travis Byrd

Travis Lee Byrd Sr. earned his wings on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Darlene Byrd. He was the father of three and stepfather of three, as well as grandfather of three and step-grandfather of three. He was the son of Houston Byrd, Sr. and the late Eloise Hatsfelt, and step-son of Joann Byrd. He was the brother of Gloria Fuselier (John), Houston Byrd, Jr. (Charlene),and the late Mike Byrd (Nettiafaye). His longtime best friend was Harold Richmond. He was born in Oakdale, Louisiana and was drafted by the US Army. He proudly served in Vietnam, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was an avid fisherman and loved going to the casinos.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Parlor of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.
