Virgie “Granny” Marie Sumrall Evans passed away peacefully at her home in Westwego on Sunday, September 6, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and friends at the age of 89. Devoted wife of the late Arthur J. Evans. The loving mother of Dwytha Evans Hux , Billie Evans Cain and the late Thomas Evans. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend.
A native of Rosepine, Louisiana and a resident of Westwego, Louisiana. “Granny” was a wonderful wife who enjoyed playing cards, shopping, garage sales and flea markets, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. A special thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care given to “Granny”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy., Marrero, LA on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on the following day from 9:00 am until Funeral time. Interment following in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale.
