William C. Smith

Surrounded by loved ones, William Smith passed away June 6th, 2022 after a courageous, yearlong battle with lung cancer. He was 70 years old. He was predeceased by his parents William C. Smith, Sr. and Mary Cusimano Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dianne T. Smith and the pride of his life, his son, Ian Smith. He also leaves behind cousins who loved him as a brother, Gary Auzine, Jay Pruitt, Kim Campbell, and Suzanne Vodanovich. He was the best in-law to Mike and Robin Tranchina, Joe and Paula Tranchina, Karen Easter, and Mary Mooney. He was Uncle Willie to Sara Bodden and her daughters, Kinley and Emmy. He also leaves behind many other cousins, nieces, and nephews to treasure his memory.

William touched the lives of many adults and children through his work as a social worker at F. Edward Hebert Chemical Dependency Unit, Jo Ellen Smith Psychiatric Hospital, Orleans Parish Public Schools, and Jefferson Parish Public Schools. When he wasn't at home with his loving family, you could find him out at the golf course with his many, dear friends, especially Paul Michel and Joe Miller.

Wear your best golf outfit and please join us in celebrating William's wonderful life on Monday, June 13th, 2022 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at the place he loved the most, Stonebridge Golf Club, 1500 Stonebridge Drive in Gretna, Louisiana.
