Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Mayo passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the age of 69. He was the beloved husband of Diane Carlin Mayo and the loving father of Lana Geerken and Lanita Mayo as well as the devoted grandfather of six. He was the brother of Ella Brown and the late Carol Howard. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews both in Louisiana and in Florida.
Woody enjoyed spending his time with his granddaughter Julia watching tv, doing crossword puzzles, playing with Boogie and Petey and just spending time together and he would always help her with her homework. Over the years, he owned several businesses on the Westbank including The Junkyard in Marrero, Woodpecker’s Restaurant in Westwego, Woody’s Amusement in Avondale and The Diner Stop in Avondale.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services from WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will last until 12 Noon at which time a Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel. Burial will be private.
