Chico was born on February 7, 1944 in McAllen, Texas to the late Mr. Baldemar Pineda Sr. and Mrs. Ofelia Pineda Solis. In addition to his parents, Chico was preceded in death by his sister, Elia Cook and his brother, Joe Pineda.
Chico proudly served in the US Army for 22 years. During his time in service, Chico served 3 tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Korea, Panama and Germany. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal (8 campaigns); Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; 5 0/3 Bars; Army Achievement Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (4); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Purple Heart; and the Good Conduct Medal (6th award) for his actions in the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, Chico worked as a Sheriff Deputy in Conroe, Texas and for the US Postal Service in Augusta, Georgia. Chico had a servant's heart, his life centered on helping family and friends, as well as strangers in need. A true testament to his character; Chico walked away barefoot after giving a man in need his shoes. Chico left an indelible mark on all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory include his faithful companion of 22 years and loving wife, Janice Bartlett-Pineda; son, Marco Pineda of Augusta, GA; step-daughter, Jennifer Hitt and son by heart, Brock Hitt of Edgefield, SC; step-daughter, Jessica Bartlett of Augusta, GA; grandsons, River and Roman Hitt, and Kamden Greene; sisters, Becky Boyd (Bob) of Sterling Heights, MI; Suzie Castillo of Gilmer, TX; Dina Miranda (Nacho) of South Bend, IN; brothers, David Pineda Sr. (Dawn) of Augusta, GA, Javier Solis of Welsco, TX and Rolando Solis of Welsco, TX; step-mother, Lucy Pineda of Dallas, TX; siblings, Corina Gonzales, Israel Pineda (Maggie), Joel Pineda (Josie) and Juan Pineda (Connie) of Dallas, TX; uncle, Alonzo Peralez of Mercedes, TX; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Marco Pineda, Rolando Solis, Israel Pineda, Juan Pineda, David Pineda Jr. and Brock Hitt. Honorary Pallbearer David Pineda Sr.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February, 4, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in the Elliott Sons Chapel beginning at 11 am with Pastor Hal Hodgens officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral home will be following all CDC guidelines. We will be practicing social distancing and requiring masks.
