Cory Hickson

Cory Lavelle Hickson, 48, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away on September 13, 2025. Born March 2, 1977, in North Carolina, to Carl B. Anthony and Sheila A. Hickson, he was raised by his aunt, “Momma”, Jacqueline Youman, in Tifton, Georgia. Cory was a devoted husband to Marquita Hickson, a loving father of five, a beloved son, a trustworthy friend, a loyal brother, a wise uncle, and an esteemed member of every community he touched.

Cory graduated from Tift County High School in 1995 and went on to Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA. There, he joined Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, forming lifelong bonds and a commitment to service. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, earning numerous awards for leadership. After his military career, Cory earned a degree and teaching certification. He continued his passion for helping others as an educator, coach, and mentor, inspiring students in the classroom, on the field, and beyond.

He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his wife Marquita, 5 children, family, and the influence he had on everyone who truly knew him.

A funeral service for Cory will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Hwy, Milledgeville, GA 31061.
