

She was born April 12, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, to Charles and Agnes Yntema. She married Charles Wayne Thompson on February 11, 1947. They moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, where they raised their three sons. She lost her husband of 22 years to lung cancer in December of 1969. A few years later She reunited with a childhood friend, Charles Frank Arnold of Lum, Michigan, and they married in September of 1974. Their 25 year marriage ended when he died of a heart attack in December of 2003. They were members of West Goodland United Methodist Church in Imlay City, Michigan. She was a strong Christian woman, devoted in her faith and to her family.
Dolores moved to Augusta, Georgia, in 2012 to be closer to her son. She is preceded in death by her son, Paul A. Thompson; her sister, Eleanor Walker of Imlay, City, Michigan; and five brothers. She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Gerritsen of St. Claire Shores, Michigan; two sons, David Thompson of Forest, Virginia, and Stephen W. Thompson of Evans, Georgia; three step-sons, Perry Arnold, Clark Arnold, and Craig Arnold all of Lum, Michigan; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she will be interred next to her husband and son.
