DJ, as he was lovingly referred to by friends and family began his education in Philadelphia at Barney Early Education Center before moving to New Jersey where he attended John Glenn Elementary school, transferred to Magowen school in Edgewater Park, NJ for fourth grade before returning to Pine Hill Middle school and finally completing his education with his graduation from Overbrook Senior High School.
DJ was a very sweet soul that loved the Lord and was baptized on September 18, 2004 at thirteen years old. DJ took his walk with Christ seriously and spent time in prayer, fasted, read his Bible and had a genuine love for the Lord.
DJ had a plethora of friends and was always active. He took part in 2007 South Jersey Junior High Chorus, was Bass II singer in South Jersey Choral Directors' Association 50th Anniversary Concert in 2008 and was a part of 2009 South Jersey Senior High Chorus as well as taking part in the Overbrook Senior High School Theatre Department Pirates of Penzance.
DJ was not afraid to try new things and was creative and a go getter. He worked at a bank where he excelled and was promoted and ADP where he also performed well but he always wanted to see the world. DJ worked at a few airlines but always aspired to work for Delta. He interviewed many times and finally landed his dream job as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines one year before passing away. He traveled and saw the world and made friends everywhere he went.
DJ was a loving, kind, generous person who would cheer you on, laugh when you laughed, and cried when you cried. He edified and encouraged people. He was not judgmental, he built up, he did not tear down. He was gentle and peaceful and knew how to love. He spoke up for others and did not sit idle if someone was hurt.
During this time DJ has been referred to many times by many people as a light, with one person calling him a Supernova of light and love and I cannot find a better description for him. 1 Samuel 16:7 reads for the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
DJ's family, his loved ones are so grateful that the heavens are higher than the earth, and His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
How good has been the blessing of the Lord for all of those who truly knew and loved DJ? How faithful and kind and generous has He been to allow us to have him for even a little while?
