George Eugene Welch

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 4pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel.

George was a lifelong resident of Augusta; he was the son of the late Eddie Lee Welch and Margarette Frazier. He retired after thirty two years of service with CSX Transportation, where he was a conductor and flagman. George was an avid collector of bottles, arrowheads, stamps, coins, baseball cards, music and loved metal detecting.

He is survived by his wife of forty nine years,Bonnie Sue Gail Phillips Welch, daughters, Donna Welch, Mobile, AL; Michelle (Ted) Fulcher, Hephzibah; Ronda (Grady) Page, Beaumont, TX; sisters, Mary Agnes (Bill) Glisson, Shirley (Bill) Noll, Jeanette (Virgil) Stewart, brothers, Charles (Julie) Welch, Henry (Wadene) Welch, David Welch, grandchildren, John (Rachel) Kennedy, Shelby Page, Corey Welch, Ted Fulcher, Jr., Breana Marrero-Welch, Kailey Fulcher, and great grandchildren, Samantha Kennedy and Valerie Richardson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 3pm until the hour of service.
