Inez E. Grove

Inez Elizabeth Grove went to be with her Lord on March 26th, 2019. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Robert William Grove Sr., sister Dorothy White Dennis, brother Allan Rudolph White, and has a surviving brother Frank Jackson White.

Inez was born in Pembroke, Georgia to the late Carrie Katherine McElhaney White and Ellie Jackson White. The family moved to Savannah when she was a young girl where she lived until her marriage to Robert in 1947. Inez and Robert started their family in Illinois with their first two children being born there, Robert William Grove, Jr of North Augusta, SC (wife Carlee) and daughter Susan Grove Anderson of Appling, Georgia (husband Stanley). Inez and Robert soon thereafter moved to the Augusta, Georgia/North Augusta, SC area where they lived for the remainder of their life. They also had three more children, son Manley S. Grove of North Augusta, SC, Judith Grove Parks of Lubbock , Texas (husband Richard) and Jennifer Grove Toole of North Augusta (husband Niles). Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Inez was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church of North Augusta, SC where she was a member of the choir under director, John Scott. She enjoyed music at home with the family, rolling up the rug and teaching all her children to dance. She also encouraged her children to learn to play musical instruments and was especially comforted listening to gospel music being played on the piano. Inez had a generous heart and found great pleasure in giving not only to her family but to those friends she met along her path of life. She crocheted hundreds of afghan blankets giving almost all of them to others. Inez’s faith in the Lord was evident in her giving spirit as well as her commitment to simple prayers. She loved her family dearly and will be remembered by her children and grandchildren of her joy in being in their lives and spending time watching their many years of ball games, music and dance. She was affectionately called Mema.

The family gives special thanks and appreciation to Mary Ostolaza and staff of Ostolaza Residence Personal Care Home for the devoted care given to both Inez and Robert Grove Sr.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Inez to: The Methodist Home, P O Box 2525, Macon, Georgia 31203-2525, or to a charity of your choice.

The family will have a private graveside gathering at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia on Friday, March 29th at 2:00pm.
