

Martinez, GA- It is with deep sorrow the family of Kris Kirkland announces he has lost his struggle with a serious liver infection and passed away peacefully at 23:10 EST 09 December 2012 at the Medical Center Georgia at Augusta.
Kris was 34 years old and is survived by his father Glen Kirkland, USN (Retired), his mother Niki Trester, His Step Father Bob Trester, USN (Retired), two sons Morgan age 8 and Raven age 9 and the children’s mother Erica Schofill of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles with many cousins here in the United States and Greece.
Kris joined the US Navy just after graduating from Goose Creek High School in 1996 and attended Boot Camp at Great lakes, IL. He was going to be an Electronics Technician (Nuclear Field Specialist) but was released from active service when Medical Screening had discovered problems which would classify him for Medical Discharge under honorable conditions 2 months after graduation from Boot Camp.
Kris went on to get his degree in Electrical Engineering from University of South Carolina and a Masters in Business Administration at Texas Christian University. He was employed by Tognum AG as a Facilities Engineer in Akin, SC.
Kris was also an Amateur Radio Operator with the call sign KE4IYA and later changed to N5EO. He was involved with the Boy Scouts with his two sons as a Scout Master.
Services will be at the Elliot Sons Funeral Home, 4225 Columbia Road in Martinez, GA (Website: http://www.dignitymemorial.com/elliott-sons-funeral-home/en-us/index.page ) on 14 December 2012 at 1 PM EST. The family will receive guests starting at 12:00 noon EST.
Kris will be interred at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road Augusta, GA (Website: http://www.westovermemorialpark.com ).
