

LaTanya Elizabeth Mahoney, affectionately known as “Tina,” was born on November 10,1961, in Washington, DC, to the late Israel and Dorothy Brown. She was the seventh child of eight children from her parents. On August 2, 2025, in Augusta, GA, she peacefully answered her heavenly call.
She attended Rudolph Elementary School, and Rabaut Jr High School and later completed her high school education at Armstrong Adult Education Center. She was a Senior Executive Administrative Professional working at Tompkins Builders, Reagan National Airport and Blue Plains. She excelled in these positions with both poise and grace.
From her first union, Tina was blessed with three beautiful children: LaToya D. Butler, Tameka Chester, and Kevin Tolliver, Jr. (KJ). Later, love found her again with William “Butch” Mahoney. Together, they built a blended family rich in love and laughter, welcoming his two sons, William Mahoney. (Tony) and Christopher Mahoney (Chris), as her own.
During their marriage Butch and Tina, decided to be start their life in Augusta, Georgia and for 19 years. They enjoyed their life together, watching TV shows like Gunsmoke, Hanging Cooper with Mr. Cooper and Andy Griffin.
Tina’s life was a song—full of harmony, rhythm, and soul. A gifted vocalist with a powerful voice, she adored the music of Teena Marie and could fill any room with melody and joy. Her keen ear for music was a treasured gift, one she lovingly passed on to her children and grandchildren.
To know Tina was to know warmth and humor. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, western movies, getting her nails done and cooking in the kitchen with Butch, she also enjoyed talking to her friends and family over the phone especially her sisters Phyllis and Ann.
She was preceded in death by parents Israel and Dorothy Brown, her siblings Harry Brown, Lydia Brown, Israel Brown, Jr, John K. Brown, Aschaffa (Ann) Foster, Phyllis L. Sahadeo, her niece Stacey M. Brown, her two brothers in laws James (Ronnie) Foster and Garnet Sahadeo.
She leaves to cherish her memory of her devoted husband, Butch; five children, LaToya Butler, Tameka Chester, Kevin Tolliver, Jr., William Mahoney and Christopher Mahoney ; two sons-in-law Matthew Chester and Marc Butler; one daughter-in-law Matara Tolliver; ten beloved grandchildren Nylah, Darren, Adyn, Phoenix, Kairo, Carson, Antonio, Sean, Chasity and Cheyenne, one brother Eric Brown and two sisters in law Patricia Brockington- Brown and Pamela Brown, one God daughter Christy Foster, and a host of family and friends who will forever carry her in their hearts.
