Dr. Leonard Ronald Wilensky was 88yrs old, and he passed on March 23, 2018. He was loved by his family and wife of 26 years Frankie Moore Neal Wilensky. His patients & friends will remember him as a wonderful optometrist that practiced in Augusta for 50 years. He was a native Augustan that attended Adas Yeshurum Synagogue. Leonard graduated high school from Richmond Academy and continued his education at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.
He served his country in the National Guard from 1950-1955. Leonard enjoyed being a member of the Jaycees where he was very active in his community and also a Lifetime Member of the Sertoma Club of Augusta for 45 yrs. Golf was a passion and a gift he would share with others when a swing needed help. He achieved five hole in one in his lifetime, and you would only know this if you had walked the course with this quiet soul.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Wilensky and sister Shirley Birnbrey. Surviving sisters are Peggy Singer & Elise Rosenfeld. His children are Rick & Amanda Acree, Dr. Don & Beverly Neal, Jr, grandchildren are Alexandra Acree, Chrichton (Genevieve) Neal, and Forrest Neal. He was blessed with caring nieces and brave nephews that will act as pallbearers. Bari & Keith Levington, Jeff & Allison Kauffman, Mark & Nancy Kauffman, Lee & Ken Bakalar, and Neil Rosenfeld. Honorary Pallbearers will be recognized as members of the Sertoma Club.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 25 2018, at Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, GA with Rabbi Sirull officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Adas Yeshurum Synagogue or St Jude Children Hospital. Thanks to Pruitt Hospice and caregivers Terri Gay, Leon Lewis, Deborah Freeman, & Diane Boyd.
