MARTINEZ, Ga. - Lester T. Garrett, 83, of Martinez, Georgia went to be with his Savior on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Pastor Garrett retired as a Baptist minister after serving in Alabama, Mississippi, Michigan and Florida for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed evangelism, revivals and bringing people to Christ. He loved the Lord and preaching the gospel. Lester was a family man who treasured each moment shared with his family. Mr. Garrett is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Garrett; four children, Mike (Teresa) Garrett, Debbie Garrett, Pam (Kurt) Welte and Jennifer (Ashley) Hill; seven grandchildren, David, Amanda, Michaela, Jacob, Caleb, Sarah Beth and Hannah; and four great-grandchildren. Homegoing services will be held 2 PM, Monday, April 9, 2012 in the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastors Bill Harrell and Terry Doss officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Monday at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC.
