Margaret Williams

Margaret “Blanche” Williams was born to David and Kathleen Chatham on 07/16/34 in Asheville, NC. She was the oldest of three children. She went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on 08/28/26. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jerry Chatham, her first husband, Charles Davis, Jr., her second husband, Andy Williams, and her son, Terry Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hunt, her sister, Betty Clontz (Wayne), nephews, nieces and cousins, several adopted sons and grandsons, all treasured members of her family.

Pall bearers will be Jose Tovar, Daniel Long, Stephen Long and Jason Graves.

She was co-founder of Davis Hauling Co. She worked side by side with Charles Davis, Jr. to grow the business while raising Terry and Karen. She was the bookkeeper and also brought two to three meals a day to the plant so that Charles could keep working.

Blanche lived longer than any of her family as she turned 92 in the hospital on July 16th. She worked hard all her life to take care of her family and raise her children. She was raised on Southern Gospel music and developed an encyclopedic knowledge of quartets and their music. She could not be stumped with Southern Gospel Trivia. Even in her last days she was talking about recent changes in the Southern Gospel community. The Singing News was her favorite magazine, and she never missed an issue. The only thing better than a Southern Gospel Concert for her was a concert in her beloved North Carolina mountains. She made her home here in Augusta, but her heart was always in the mountains. One of the proudest accomplishments of her life was the money that she raised thru presenting Gospel Singing Benefit Concerts for the Doctors Hospital Burn Unit.

Blanche could be described as a fierce lover of her God, children, family, church and friends. You knew what she stood for and what was important to her in life....and you never had to question where you stood.

She and her family are extremely grateful for her caregivers for her last days. The ladies from MYD, Inc. did a wonderful job of making her days more bearable. We are especially grateful for Ms. Melanie, Ms. Shirley, Ms. Edna and Ms. Lucille. May God richly bless you for excellent care of her.

Service will be held at Martinez Baptist Church on Monday, August 31st with visitation from 10 Am to 11Am followed by a service.
